I took my first trip to Hawaii five months before I was born. In my mothers stomach, I like to think that I listened to the waves crashing peacefully on the beach even as I was first forming my ears. In the time since then, these islands in the Pacific have come to mean more to me than just pieces of land. They've always been the place where I’d rather be. The feeling that the word Hawai’i carries my mind can’t really be put into words, but it has to do with calm rolling waves, colorful fish, humid nights filled with the smell of flowers, and the sound of palm trees swaying in the breeze. I picked up a DSLR camera for the first time during a month living on the Big Island, and three years later I returned with my own camera to spend three months living there. Here are my pictures from that summer.
